In honour of their 50th anniversary, Heemkring Cnocke is Here shares four fascinating stories:

From Zeeweg to Lippenslaan:
Discover the evolution of the very first commercial street in the seaside town, from 1887 to 1987. Explore the street layout, unique buildings and the life of the middle class.

Disappearing Hotels:
In 1939, Knokke-Heist had as many as 200 hotels, now only about 20. Discover the history and mystery behind these vanished hotels.

Cottage and villa building in the Zoute:
Travel back to 1908, the year the residential Zoute was founded. Experience the distinctive cottage building and the unique blend of country style and Art Deco elements during the interwar period.

Decor for Artists:
Since 1883, dozens of artists, both national and international, have discovered the Oud Zoute, ‘t Kalf and Maeger Schorre districts as an inspiring backdrop for their artworks.
As part of this fascinating expo, Danny Lannoy will give a free lecture on the ‘Rivalry between Verwee and Ensor’ on Sunday 17 December at 10 am and on Wednesday 20 December at 7.30 pm.
Also, don’t miss the chance to visit the expo for free with an expert guide every Sunday at 10 and 10.30 am. Please note that the exhibition is closed on 25 December and 1 January. Dive into the past and be inspired by Knokke-Heist’s rich history!
