“Discover Art by the Sea: experience the Beaufort Triennial during your stay at Hotel St Pol”
Between 27 March and 3 November, the Beaufort Triennial returns to the Belgian coast, and this promises to be an unforgettable experience. During the 8th edition of Beaufort, you can enjoy striking and memorable works of art scattered along the 67 km long Belgian coastline for no less than six months. This triennial has already had seven previous editions, of which several artworks by both national and international artists have remained permanently, resulting in the magnificent Beaufort Sculpture Park with more than 40 works. This park forms a unique open-air exhibition in the breathtaking setting of the Belgian coast.
The Beaufort Sculpture Park is freely accessible to the public and offers 24/7 opportunities to enjoy these artistic gems. A golden tip for an extra magical experience is to admire the artworks during an enchanting sunrise or sunset, when the natural light adds an extra dimension to the artworks.
This beautiful park was created thanks to the cooperation of several coastal municipalities, including De Panne, Koksijde-Oostduinkerke, Nieuwpoort, Middelkerke-Westende, Ostend, Bredene, De Haan-Wenduine, Blankenberge, Zeebrugge and Knokke-Heist.
To make your visit to the Beaufort Triennial as optimal as possible, you can purchase a visitor’s guide at Hotel St Pol and in every tourist office on the Coast for only 2 euros. This guide provides comprehensive information about the works of art, the artists and the story behind each location. In addition, the guide includes walking maps, cycle loops and background information to enrich your experience.
Special routes have been mapped out for cyclists and walkers along the many works of art by the sea. Walks have been mapped out in each coastal municipality, taking you past both new and previous Beaufort works. These walking maps are integrated in the visitors’ guide and are also available free of charge at the coastal tourist offices.
Cycling enthusiasts can discover the Beaufort24 works of art via special cycling routes, each connecting two coastal municipalities. These cycling routes can be downloaded free of charge from the Beaufort Triennial website.
Moreover, the coastal tram is a unique means of transport to explore the Beaufort Triennial. Both the website and the visitors’ guide mention the nearest tram stop and the walking distance to the relevant work of art each time, making it effortless to plan your trip.
In short, during your stay at Hotel St Pol, the Beaufort Triennial offers a unique opportunity to discover the beautiful works of art along the Belgian coast and enjoy a fascinating cultural experience. Don’t miss it!
