“Experience the coastal safari – discover the coast’s hidden natural gems!”

The Coastal Safari is back! This summer, the Belgian coast offers a great opportunity to go out and discover nature in a new, adventurous way. Whether you are an avid hiker or prefer cycling, the Coastal Safari is the perfect activity for you.

What is the Coastal Safari?

The Coastal Safari is a unique experience where, accompanied by a Coastal Ranger, you explore the beauty and diversity of the Belgian coast. Suitable for both cyclists and walkers, this safari offers a deep dive into the flora and fauna of the coastline. The Coastal Ranger takes you in tow and points out the coast’s hidden gems.

Starting and ending at a Nature Visitor Centre

Each Coastal Safari starts and ends at one of the six nature visitor centres along the Belgian coast. These centres are ideal for gathering information, obtaining route maps and learning about local flora and fauna. They provide a perfect starting point for your adventure and ensure you are well prepared to set off.

Out and About with a Coastal Ranger

One of the highlights of the Coastal Safari is being accompanied by a real Coastal Ranger. These experienced guides have extensive knowledge of coastal ecosystems and share their expertise and passion with the participants. The Coastal Ranger points out interesting animals and plants, tells fascinating stories about the region and makes sure you don’t miss a thing during your trip.

Cycling or Walking: Choose Your Way to Explore

Whether you prefer cycling or walking, the Coastal Safari offers routes that cater to both preferences. Cyclists can enjoy the wind in their hair as they ride along the coastline, while walkers can take time to take in every detail of nature. Both options offer a unique way to experience the coast and discover its hidden gems.

Enjoy the Healthy Sea Air and Beautiful Landscapes

On the Coastal Safari, you will be surrounded by the natural beauty of the coast. The swaying beach grass, birds taking flight and the healthy sea air contribute to a real safari feeling. The coastline offers a dynamic landscape where the sea meets the land, and every step or pedal stroke brings new discoveries and breathtaking views.

The Role of Nature Visitor Centres

Six seaside visitor centres are once again presenting their Big Five this summer. These are five special species that highlight the coast’s biodiversity.
They play a crucial role in the Coastal Safari, acting not only as starting and ending points, but also as educational hubs where you can learn more about coastal ecology and conservation efforts. Each centre has its own unique features and offers different routes and attractions, making each safari a unique experience.

Are you ready for an unforgettable adventure on the Belgian coast? The Coastal Safari offers a unique opportunity to discover the nature of the coast, accompanied by an expert Coastal Ranger.
