Our Hotel St Pol is located on the edge of the Zwin area, where it was spring tide, of Wednesday 05/01/2022 and that resulted in beautiful images in the Zwin Nature Park in Knokke-Heist. The entire plain was flooded. This happens a few times a year at the most.
The Zwin plain was flooded by the combination of the spring tide and a strong northwest wind. Access to the area was closed off on Wednesday afternoon for safety reasons. Only hikers could observe the phenomenon from a distance. Since the expansion of the Zwin in 2019, the consequences of spring tide are more noticeable. It has no consequences for the fauna and flora in the nature reserve. In fact, it is even positive.
In the course of Thursday, the situation normalized again and hikers could once again explore the entire Zwin plain.
