The Green Key is an international recognition for hotels that are environmentally conscious. To obtain this recognition, a hotel must meet strict requirements in terms of environmental awareness, energy efficiency and waste management. Hotel St Pol has successfully met these requirements and is therefore rightly pleased with this recognition.
In addition, Hotel St Pol also accepts eco-vouchers, which guests can use to pay for their stay. This means guests can contribute to a more sustainable future while enjoying the hotel’s comfortable accommodation and excellent location.
But it is not just about accepting ecocheques and obtaining the Green Key. Hotel St Pol has also made efforts to be more ecological in other areas. For example, the hotel has switched to LED lighting, reducing energy consumption. The hotel has also installed an efficient water management system and is careful with waste, recycling or reusing as much as possible.
In short, Hotel St Pol is an excellent choice for guests looking for a comfortable place to stay in Knokke-Heist while contributing to a better environment. By obtaining the Green Key and accepting eco-checks, the hotel shows that it is serious about sustainability and ecology. And through its efforts in other areas, the hotel offers guests the chance to make responsible and environmentally friendly choices.

We are looking at giving clients the option to skip a room cleaning. For every room that “skips” the cleaning we plant a tree. This is in partnership with Hotels For Trees.
Together with Westtoer and an energy coach, we are looking at the possibility of using geothermal energy to heat the rooms in the winter and cool them in the summer. For this we would have to drill about 18 wells in our parking lot to a depth of 180 meters and connect them to a heat pump that can provide both heat in winter and coolness in summer.
We are expanding our assortment with Bio, fair trade and short chain products on our breakfast buffet.
Ilse finished the course Hostess of the Zwinstreek this year, which allows us to give even more information about our region to the customers.
All our yoghurts and flans come from an organic farm in our neighborhood.
Bread on the buffet is made with wheat grown 500 meters from the hotel, milled by an old-fashioned miller and prepared according to medieval recipes, such as Masteluin bread. All this without improvers.
We will expand our solar panels by another 60 to bring our electricity to as good as 0.
